No longer do nursing moms have to stretch their t-shirts into unrecognizable shapes when nursing in public. Nor do they need to carry bulky and inconvenient blankets to put over their babies while breastfeeding. Moms now have the choice to be stylish (gasp) and practical at the same time.
Nursing clothes
These are not your mother's nursing clothes
The era of the plain pink or baby blue one-size-fits-all shirts with the long slits down the front is gone. The bulky, shapeless, and style-challenged nursing clothes of yesterday went out with the true mullet. They have been replaced with items that look like they could have just waltzed off of the pages of Glamour or Vogue magazines. Or at least a lovely department store catalogue.
Today, all nursing moms are able to find nursing clothes to fit their individual senses of style. The choices one can find in department stores, specialty stores, and on the Internet is staggering. If you're a casual dresser, the choices you have are virtually unlimited. Working in a professional environment won't prove to be difficult to dress for either, wearing nursing shirts under jackets and blazers. Whatever it is that you seek, with a little research, you will find.
Nursing clothes start with the nursing bra. There are dozens of styles, shapes, and materials, not to mention the fit. Similarly, other articles of clothing come with the same variety. There are nursing tanks (often referred to as camisoles, or camis), shirts, both casual and dressy, gowns, sweaters, dresses, nightwear, and even swimwear. These items can be very low in cost. Alternatively, you can always find an item with the same functionality that costs 10 times as much. Your choice.
You may find that there is one particular brand that you just adore (there are many to choose from out there). Or, you may be a bargain hunter and have a hodgepodge of great finds in your closet. Either way, you will be well equipped to nurse in public and look great doing it.
